British Society of Rheology.
The British Society of Rheology was founded in 1940 with the objective of promoting the science of rheology and is a founder member of the European Society of Rheology.
The Society awards a Gold Medal every few years in recognition of outstanding contributions to rheology and has also established an Annual Award. This has been made to younger scientists in recognition of their work as well as to rheologists who have made a significant contribution to the life of the Society.
To encourage younger rheology scientists, the Society funds the Scott Blair Memorial Scholarship and administers the Scott Blair Biorheology Scholarship which is funded by Elsevier Science. It makes awards from time to time for the best paper(s) presented at a Young Rheologists' Day. It also makes travel grants in support of the expenses incurred by students in their attendance at conferences and courses.

BTG is a leading supplier for the paper industry. However, our laboratory units can be used for numerous alternative applications where identifying the charge level of a sample is often crucial: waste water treatment, stabilisation of dispersions, adsorption of additives on particle surfaces, food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, medical products, inks and paints, textiles and fibres, mining.

Malvern room at Cambridge University.
The Physical Geography Laboratories are housed within the Department of Geography, University of Cambridge. They comprise both Physical Laboratories(including the Soils and Sediment Laboratory, Pollen Preparation Rooms,Microscope Rooms) and the Chemistry Laboratories (which comprise the Analytical Laboratories and Instrument Room). There is also a new Teaching Laboratory. Users of these facilities ranges from undergraduate to post-doctoral workers.
Our close relationship with Malvern has resulted in the setting up of the new Malvern Room which provides facilities for laser particle sizing, color spectrometry and the determination of magnetic properties for a range of soil and sediment samples. With the recent addition of a Thin-Section Facility through collaboration with the department of Archaeology the Physical Geography Laboratories can offer a comprehensive sediment characterization facility.
